Arny Margret Announces New Album, Shares “I Miss You, I Do”
Icelandic singer-songwriter Arny Margret has announced new album I Miss You, I Do, which will be out March 7 via One Little Independent. She at studios in New York City, North Carolina, Colorado and Reykjavik, collaborating with producers Josh Kaufman, Andrew Berlin, Brad Cook, and Guðmundur “Kiddi” Kristinn Jónsson.
“The main thing I wanted for this album was for it to be different,” Arny says. “When I listen to the last one, I feel like it’s mainly about me and the guitar. It’s very stripped back. I wanted to do more – I love the banjo, the fuller sound, I love the American sound, so recording it all over there made a big difference. I’ve always worked with the same people in the same places, so I never thought I could do this – work with all these people who record with some of my favourite musicians. I really admire everyone on this. And pushing myself out of my comfort zone, that’s quite rewarding.”
The first single from the album is its title track which comes from sessions with Josh Kaufman and was written the night before they met. “I wanted to have a good song to take with me, so I wrote it in my pyjamas in the Airbnb I was staying at before I went to sleep. I think it’s become the song I’m most fond of on the album.” You can listen to the studio version and watch a live session of it below.
Arny Margret will be opening for RY X at a few East Coast shows next week including Brooklyn’s Warsaw on October 28. All dates are listed below.
